Cameron Highlands landslide: One dead, two critically injured


A woman has died and two other people critically injured in a landslide at 5.45pm on Sunday involving five houses at the Sungai Ruil orang asli village in Cameron Highlands
More are feared buried in the mud.
"The two injured and the body of the woman have been sent to the Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom Hospital in Tanah Rata,” said a spokesman at the Cameron Highlands Police Headquarters.
Hundreds of rescue personnel - police, firemen and Civil Defence Department personnel - are searching the hilly area for victims, Bernama reported.
Cameron Highlands MP Datuk S.K. Devamany said there might be eight to 10 people trapped in the rubble while an old lady has been confirmed dead.
“The Orang Asli leader has informed us that he believe that the residents in those houses are trapped in the underneath in the buried houses, he said at the scene.
