UNDER COAT RENDER FOR SKIM COAT

Sample of the surface that need to be rendered before applying skim coat

Before applying skim coat to RC wall or brick/block wall, the surface must be rendered,

Materials to be used for rendering surface before applying skim coat are:-

1.Thin plaster

Above 0.5N/mm2

Recommended thickness

Max 5mm/layer

Coverage

Approximately 0.55m2/kg (1mm  thick)

Surface preparation

1.Clean from dust, oil and any foreign materials.

2.Substrate defect to be patched before plastering

3.Moisten surface with water prior to application  (for dry/high absorbing substrate)

4.Avoid stagnant/frequent water flow on sbustrate  prior to plastering to prevent poor adhesion`

Mixing

1 bag mix with 8.5litres of water

Mix thoroughly with electrical mixer fo 3-5min.

Mixture must be homogenous, free from lump

Remix for 1 minute if left unused for more than 30min.

 

Tool to apply

Steel trowel

Layers

If application requires a few layers, the underneath layers must be dry before applying the subsequent layers

Storage

Dry place free from excessive moisture

Shelf life

6 months in its original packing
